Harden's survey result
For 25 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. This year diners have submitted over 60,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK.
Taken over by South Africa’s Leeu Collection, who replaced longtime owner Mike Bevan, in April 2016, this “perfect hotel” in a fine Lakeland location is set to reopen in November 2017 after a £10 million, 5-month renovation set to add new interiors, a more informal dining area with a terrace.
Change may be in the air at this Edwardian country house hotel – set in 14 acres, with a fine Lakeland location overlooking Lake Windermere – which achieved solid ratings in this year’s survey. In April, it was acquired by a South African group (the Leeu Collection), and August 2016 saw the appointment of a new chef, David Aspin.
A fine Lakeland location sets the scene at this well-known Edwardian hotel, overlooking Windermere, where the ambitious cuisine is well-rated (if, sometimes, “varying – often extremely well done but occasionally missing its mark”).
Still fewer reports than we would like, but this hotel above Windermere is tipped as an “enjoyable” destination in “traditional” style, where the cooking is of a “very high standard”.
We're open daily for restaurant lunches, terrace lunches, afternoon tea and dinner.
The restaurant comprises three dining rooms, The Mirror Room, The Billiard Room and the Boardroom (two of which can be used for private dining), and also serve as stunning function rooms for weddings at Linthwaite.
