“We’ve tried other places (including The Ritz) for afternoon tea, but come back here”. This “iconic hotel” in the heart of Mayfair combines “art deco elegance with warm scones and piano music”, and “because its tea is served in the hotel foyer, there’s just the right amount of background activity for a near-perfect, tea-time experience”. Also there’s a “fabulous breakfast here: ideal for a visiting Aussie or American uncle, with everything from the kippers to the perfect salmon and scrambled egg”.

For 31 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

"Disappointing it’s not beyond good for the price. Overcooked tornado Rossini. Expensive wine list. Needs a polish (cooking, staff, furnishings) and to up its game for the price. No complaints but just not good enough to justify the prices. "
