“I approached with trepidation… but everything was delicious!” – this “fun and laid-back”, open-kitchen dining experience in Soho delivers a “casual but impressive” meal centred on “surprising-in-a-totally-good-way”, Pan-Asian small plates, delivered by “dynamic” staff. A former pop-up – it’s the creation of an ex-Nobu team, with Aussie chef Scott Hallsworth and partner Phar Shaweewan.
Ex-Nobu head chef Scott Hallsworth and Phar Shaweewan’s storming pan-Asian pop-up has found a permanent home in Soho, in the small bar premises that formerly housed the original Barrafina. Early reports suggest it’s a worthy successor and award full marks to its super-freaky, tapas-y flavour-bomb dishes of Asian-Latino inspiration, washed down with a selection of cocktails.
Freak Scene Restaurant Diner Reviews
"Not quite sure why this place has the reviews it does. The food is of a good quality but nothing exciting Service was ok but I had to ask for orders to be taken. I get the idea of going for a relaxed vibe but that doesn’t mean service should suffer. The fixed bar stools are not comfortable and remind of the type of bars that have fix stools to stop them being used in fights. Overall an ok place but the scores of 5 for food and 4 for ambiance are not valid in my opinion. Then again not everyone has the same likes and dislikes . That’s what makes the world an interesting place."
