“The wow factor” of its “remarkable views by day or night” helps make this “fun and busy” space – the top three stories of this landmark City tower (originally restricted to those working in the Gherkin, now open to the public) – a “good choice for a special occasion”. The catering has its fans too, although critiques include that it can be “ordinary” or “very expensive”. Top Tip – “good set menu”.

“The view – ground-level to zenith – is breathtaking”, sitting on the 39th-floor of this London landmark: “go if you need to impress, especially an out-of-towner”. And – though “security to enter is (understandably) Draconian” – all-in-all performance defies the usual rules about rooms-with-a-view: it’s “so uplifting to combine great vistas with very competent standards”. Until recent times, entry was restricted to employees within the building, but the caterers rebranded and relaunched the space (fka ‘Searcys at The Gherkin’) in summer 2018, and it’s now open to all (including the top-floor ‘Iris’ bar).

For 30 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. This year diners have submitted over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK.

Have you eaten at Helix (Searcys at The Gherkin)?
