A “lovely location” with “great views” across the meat market to the City is reason enough to visit this top-floor venue, with a menu that focuses unsurprisingly on red meat. There’s a “good atmosphere, with tables not too close together”, which makes it a top choice for City-fringe business lunches. The “fixed-price steak and Malbec is great value for money”.
“Superb views over Smithfield meat market, St Paul’s and the Square Mile” can still make a trip to this spacious top-floor restaurant special. Once upon a time it was one of the top business lunch destinations for City types, but achieves no such recommendations nowadays. But while it’s “not quite as good as it used to be in its heyday, it still serves up some delicious steak”.
The “wonderful rooftop location”, with “old London lit up all around and visible from all parts of the restaurant”, makes this an “excellent night-time venue”. “The food is first-class”, too, with a focus on rare-breed British beef, appropriate for the meat-market setting, while service is “attentive without being overbearing”. “With a little more care this has the potential to be really outstanding.”
“Great rooftop views” over the City make this an attractive location for business entertaining, with steak the appropriate focus for the Smithfield meat market setting. The catch? – it’s “expensive for what it is”.
