This beamed high street dining room, owned by Julie & Tony Cheal, with son Matt (ex-Simpsons) at the stove, is a “really good find”; despite “just an occasional bum note”, the cooking – from six-course tasting menus to “generous” roasts – is high “quality” and “very pretty”, and staff show a “real commitment to the place”.
Ex Simpsons chef Matt Cheal heads the stoves at this old house on a picturesque high street, which is owned by his parents Julie & Tony. The odd disappointment was recorded, but most reports here could not be more glowing for its ambitious cuisine (with the option of a nine-course tasting menu as well as the à la carte).
