The “perfect westernised Japanese food” at former Zuma and Nobu chef Ross Shonhan’s “hip” ramen-bar chain “shows how to do fusion”: “the soup stock is wonderfully thick and full of flavour, not watery like other places”. Top Tip: “soft shell crab ramen”.
“Good lord, that stock they use in the ramen!” – Aussie restaurateur, Ross Shonhan’s funky fusion chain offers “noodles served in lovely, rich broths, as well as some fantastic salads and small dishes” to create a “superb all-round experience”; branches are regularly “heaving”.
“Power-packed flavours” (“you’ll never be able to touch Wagamama noodles again!”) inspire drooling reviews for these “very hip Japanese-Western hybrids” in Soho, in High Street Ken’s Whole Foods, and now also in Shoreditch and Victoria. “Service is by staff who are laid-back, but still know their stuff”.
“Go early to avoid the crazy queues, and being rammed next to loads of self-adoring 20-somethings”, if you grab a bite at this “rock ’n’ roll ramen house” in Soho, which doesn’t only offer “silky, rich noodle dishes”, but lots of other “enormously tasty” snacks. (Top Menu Tips include the “incredible miso aubergine” and “ever-so nice green tea ice cream”.) It has an OK spin off over Kensington’s Whole Foods too, and – coming soon – a branch in its spiritual home – Shoreditch (and see also Shackfuyu).
