Harden's survey result
“Heston’s concept here is ‘pub food, done like you’ve never seen it done before’, and it works, taking standard fare such as prawn cocktail, fish ’n’ chips, even ploughman’s lunch, and making them an experience”. This beamed local in the centre of the village doesn’t attract the volume of feedback of the Hind’s Head, but for a more trad’ experience, locals say it’s “always good”.
Heston’s “outstanding old pub” (not that you’d instantly realise it was out of the ordinary) is a quaint, beamed local in the centre of the village. Less ambitious (and pricey) than his nearby Hind’s Head, the food is consistently highly rated.
“Almost as good as the Hinds Head nearby but less fussy, and in more traditional pub style”; “try this if you want something in Bray owned by Heston Blumenthal which doesn’t break the bank!”
With its “low beams, village location, fires in winter” this “quality” boozer has “a real local / community feel”, and “does all the traditional dishes well”. If you didn’t know that this was part of Heston’s empire however, you’d never guess.
