The Botanist opens at Broadgate Circle

DiningFans of The Botanist on Sloane Square now have a hang-out in the City – though it may not offer the same “great people (Made in Chelsea stars) watching” experience as the original. The ETM Group venue is one of many new residents at the Broadgate Circle development behind Liverpool Street station.

The new Botanist is split over two floors – a ground floor restaurant and bar and a subterranean late-night Soda Room.

Its interiors are all copper, brass and gold with banquettes, curiosity cabinets and armchairs while outside is an al fresco dining terrace. The bar serves up a variety of wines and beers as well as signature cocktails like the Broadgate Cobber (Marsala Secco, Solerno blood orange liqueur, Belsazar rose, pink grapefruit and kumquats).

Heading up the kitchen is Sam Hawkes, formerly of The Cadogan Arms on the King’s Road. On the all-day menu: Chorizo and spring onion hash with double-fried egg; salt cod and jamon croquettes with saffron aioli; crab fries with smoked Cheddar and aioli; and corn-fed chicken breast, black truffle tagliatelle, broad beans and morels.

There’s also a selection of burgers, steaks and fish from Billingsgate. As is de rigueur there will be bottomless brunches at weekends – two courses for £20, three courses for £25 and unlimited prosecco, mimosas, bloody Marys and ETM house wine for an extra £15.

Downstairs the Soda Room offers a drinking den with live music and DJ sets.
