The family behind popular Walthamstow Village bistro Eat 17 (and its neighbouring Spar shop) has opened a restaurant, burger bar and convenience store in Clapton. Taking over the site of a former snooker hall, the O’Connor brothers (Daniel and Chris), alongside Siobhan O’Donnell and James Brundle, have launched a multi-tier offering, with burgers and groceries on the ground floor and a dining room and bar on the floor above.

Situated on Brooksby Road – just off the fashionable Chatsworth Road E5, which hosts a Sunday food market – the somewhat confusingly named Eat 17 Bar & Restaurant is one of a number of new independent businesses that have moved into the area lately.

The 50-cover upstairs dining room serves dishes like smoked chicken noodles, crispy skin, enoki, and pork shoulder, smoky beans, crème fraîche, spinach & hazelnuts. And fans of Eat 17 in Walthamstow’s Bacon Jam Burger won’t be disappointed as it also makes an appearance in Clapton.
