Café Portland to open later this year

A brand new all-day restaurant, which sounds like it could be a handy pit stop for Oxford Street shoppers, opens later this year. Café Portland on – you guessed – Great Portland Street, has been built from scratch on the site of an abandoned clothing warehouse; well this is the domain of the big fashion retailers after all.

The restaurant has a 45-cover dining room upstairs with the mandatory open kitchen, while downstairs there is a 14-seater private space for dinner parties and functions.

Café Portland says its ethos will be centred on great produce, simply cooked, complemented by a fantastic wine list, of which they seem particularly proud. No details available just yet (watch this space) but they say it is a ‘small, but well chosen’ list offering ‘honest value’.

The restaurant opens late 2014, just in time for the December shopping madness then.
