Platterform pop-up goes perm

No-one could accuse the people behind roaming restaurant Platterform of not paying their dues. After three years of hosting pop-ups on rooftops (in sometimes Arctic conditions) they have finally secured a permanent home at Hackney Empire.

Platterform plan to introduce their mix of food, drink, music and immersive events to the area, with nights like TV Dinners, a weekly supper/film club with menus inspired by cult movies, starting with Napoleon Dynamite on 30 July.

Turn Tables, a collaborative event between chefs from the likes of Ottolenghi and Bonnie Gull and DJs, will be held at the restaurant every Thursday. There will also be block parties in the form of Stoop Sessions and live music events hosted by Evil Evil Records and friends. Plus Platterform’s afternoon tea, Chi & Tea, launches on 17 August, serving up Yin & Yang cocktails, a dim sum cart and free Tai Chi sessions.
