Just over a year after launching their Vine Street restaurant in Brighton, Cin Cin are opening a second site in Hove’s Western Road in January 2018. The original venue was hailed in this year’s Harden’s Best UK Restaurants as providing “simple and delicious rustic food” that’s a “very welcome change from the pile-it- high and sell-it-cheap pizza and pasta joints which are the norm locally” helping it score a very good 4/5 for food.
The Italian Bar & Kitchen, where diners “sit on stools around the U-shaped bar and watch as the team slice, chop and cook” has had a hugely successful first year. It achieved the highest new entry at the Brighton Best Restaurant Awards when they were named sixth best restaurant in Brighton despite having only been open for three months. They also picked up the Best Welcome Award at the event.
David Toscano, founder of Cin Cin, began in a 1972 vintage Fiat street food van, taking his passion for Italian food and drink on the road to festivals, events and venues across the UK. He eventually gave up his city lawyer job to focus on finding Cin Cin a permanent home, which opened in Brighton in November 2016. David is keen to ensure the new venue offers a similar experience to the Brighton original, however it will have some extra space and new menu options. There will be a charcoal robata style grill at the Hove site, which will help put Cin Cin’s Italian spin on great local meat, fish and vegetable produce. Look out for dishes like: Sussex lamb rump on Castelluccio lentils, celeriac & salsa verde.
