Grillstock: King of the Grill competition comes to London

Jon & Ben with The SmokerThis summer, the UK’s largest official BBQ competition will take place in Walthamstow, 5-6 September. The King of the Grill is at the heart of Grillstock, a BBQ and music festival founded in Bristol in 2010, introducing the concept of competition BBQ to the UK.

The event’s popularity has grown over the years and now the meat, music and mayhem will come to the capital with a BBQ competition – officially accredited by the Kansas City Barbeque Society (KCBS).

Grillstock London will be the biggest BBQ festival yet with 40,000 meat lovers expected over the weekend and 40 teams competing in the competition. Teams score points for their chicken, pork, brisket and ribs, which are judged on taste and technique. At the end of the weekend the winning team will be crowned the Grand Champion and earn the opportunity to compete in the American Royal in Kansas City as well as the World Food Championships in Las Vegas.

The music line-up, over several stages will see headliners Fun Lovin’ Criminals and Razorlight joined by the Cuban Bros, Grandmaster Flash, Hayseed Dixie and DJ Yoda. There will also be a hot wing eating competition and a bar serving Grillstock Pale Ale, Brooklyn Brewery craft beers, rum cocktails and Jack Daniels.
