Clapton scene becomes yet more Verden(t)

It all seems to be happening in Clapton at the moment. Last week, Yard Sale Pizza launched in Lower Clapton Street, just after Eat 17 had announced plans for a burger bar and convenience store in Chatsworth Road.

Now Verden has opened on the site of the old Cricketers Pub in E5’s Clarence Road. Specialising in meat, cheese and wine, the 100-cover bar and delicatessen is open six days a week.

Founded by Ed Wyand (formerly of Scott’s) and Tom Bell, Verden sees Tom Fraser (also ex-Scott’s) heading things up in the kitchen. As well as ‘sharing‘ boards of charcuterie and cheeses, the restaurant will offer a short but regularly changing menu du jour, as well as a brunch menu at weekends.
