Movable feast lands in Liverpool

asif_khan_-xiringuito_04_low-resNomadic restaurant Xiringuito will open in Liverpool on November 15 following its move from Margate in Kent, where it made a debut this summer.

Named after the seasonal restaurants that pop up for the summer in Catalonia, Xiringuito is run by Conor Sheehan and chef Jackson Berg, who met when still at school in Liverpool. Architect Asif Khan designed the transportable structure, which packs into a shipping container.

“We wanted to move Xiringuito to a city for the winter months and Liverpool, being our hometown, seemed the natural choice,” said Sheehan.

They are also moving inside for the winter, into a disused Cains Brewery warehouse in Liverpool’s Baltic district.

Sheehan and Berg were general manager and head chef at east London’s Bistrotheque, a “major boho hit” according to the Harden’s Guide. Berg’s menus feature modern seasonal British cooking with international influences.
