Chinese Restaurants in Oxford
1. My Sichuan Chinese restaurant in Oxford The Old School, Gloucester Grn - OX1
Go once and if you like Sichuan cooking youll be hooked on this really interesting, if slightly Spartan old schoolhouse, near the Ashmolean, which is always bursting with diners. Its not for the faint of heart dishes are heavy on grease (as in China), and definitely heavy on chillies too, and include unusual ingredients (duck tongues, pig tripe, frogs legs), but if you can take it, results are brilliant and exciting.
2. Sojo Chinese restaurant in Oxford 6-9 Hythe Bridge St - OX1
Vying with My Sichuan for the crown of best Chinese food in Oxford this superb outfit offers an excellent and unusual range of mainly Cantonese dishes; not only are they wonderful, theyre also sensibly priced. The back room is good for those who want less noise.
3. Zheng Chinese restaurant in Oxford 82 Walton St - OX2
A proper-basic, cramped pan-Asian, which might put you off by covering three different Chinese cuisines, along with Malaysian and Singaporean, but whose results can be truly excellent. That said, more than one reporter thinks that there may have been a little too much gushing about it (not least by Giles Coren), and while good, its not grrrrrr-eat!
