British, Traditional Restaurants in Newcastle Upon Tyne
1. Blackfriars Restaurant British, Traditional restaurant in Newcastle upon Tyne Friars St - NE1
The aggressively local (in a good way!) cuisine is well-prepared and the ambience in particular cant be faulted at this romantic venue in a lovely 13th-century building with a cloister. As of late 2016, owner Andy Hook plans to expand this 15-year-old venture into the neighbouring space. (In fact, he also, apparently, has his eyes on the 21 Queen Street site, most recently trading as Pan Haggertys, RIP.)
2. Broad Chare British, Traditional restaurant in Newcastle upon Tyne 25 Broad Chare - NE1
A gastroboozer combining a good pubby atmosphere, lovely staff, and very fresh local produce with a traditional British slant; its particularly handy for a pre-theatre meal if you are off to Gateshead Sage or the Live Theatre.
