Madame Tussauds presents Marvel Super Heroes in 4D

Marvel at Madame Tussauds

Wednesday 23 June saw the launch party for Marvel Super Heroes 4D at Madame Tussauds, the biggest new experience since the re-development of the Chamber of Horrors over seven years ago.

Spread across three floors, Marvel Super Heroes 4D took six months, 100 litres of oil paint, 1000kgs of clay and 50,000 individually inserted hairs to bring to life. The figures and themed experience created by Madame Tussauds' Studios is the beginning of a five year deal between Marvel and Madame Tussauds. The experience will expand with new elements, including additional character figures added on a regular basis.

The launch party started with an English afternoon tea with a twist; quirky delicacies were served by Dish caterers including carrot macaroons, primary coloured sandwiches, cheese and chutney scones and betroot and goats cheese cupcakes. English Garden cocktails with gin, elderflower cordial and freshly squeezed lime juice completed the tea party theme. These were served in the Test Zone and Hall of Heroes event spaces.

Guests then viewed the new 4D cinema showing a 3D film short featuring Hulk, Captain America, Iron Man, Spider-Man, Wolverine and Ms Marvel in an all new adventure set in London. This had special '4D ' high-impact effects involving water, smoke, seat tremors and wind. It's the first time that a group of Marvel Super Heroes have been brought to life in 3D. Threshold Animation Studios worked in close collaboration with Marvel notching up 13,000 hours of CGI animation time to produce the 9 minute film.

The evening was rounded off in the A-List Party Room with music supplied by Music By Arrangement, Super Hero styled waiters and super food inspired dishes including 'Super Hulk' pea soup shots, 'Captain America' crab cakes and 'Wolverine' herb crusted lamb skewers. To finish, Merlin branded cupcakes and doughnuts with injectable fillings provided guests with a sweet treat.
