Scratch the truffle oil! (Updated)

Frank Bruni has given up the world’s most cherished restaurant-reviewing job, and sets out his valedictory thoughts in today’s NY Times.

Some of his thoughts are as applicable here; others make a handy ‘cut-out-and-keep’ guide for anyone planning a visit to one of the world’s most interesting restaurant cities.

Bruni’s successor, incidentally, has (contrary to the earlier report on this site, apologies) been named as Times staffer Sam Sifton, who allegedly turned the job down last time round. See Eater.com for exhaustive American-style background and commentary.
