Muscovite steak house chain Goodman is to stray outside Russia for the first time at the end of November, with this newcomer on Mayfair’s Maddox Street. It should make a handy spot for Oligarchs to be wined and dined by hedge fund managers keen to hang on to their cash.
Perhaps an icon of Russia’s slow march to full-blooded capitalism, the style is a Muscovite take on an NYC steak house (the chain itself, which started in 2003, being named after jazz impresario Benny).
The PR certainly reads like the genuine article: we are promised “an on-site ageing room”, “painstakingly sourced prime cuts of beef matured up to 40 days” and an “imported charcoal-fired grill”.
