Quags closed for two days after diner dies

D&D London, the group formerly known as Conran restaurants, closed Quaglino’s W1 for two days earlier this week after a diner dined subsequently to eating there, reports the Daily Mail.

The management took the decision to close the restaurant voluntarily, and it is not known whether there was any causative link.

All newspaper stories about restaurants must, of course, be related to celebrities, so full marks to the Mail website for demonstrating Quag’s celeb credential by including not one but two photos of celebs at the restaurant. In 1993. The archive quality of these pictures tends to emphasise the sad fact that Quags is a restaurant that has traded magnificently on its reputation in recent years. It is condemned in the current edition of Harden’s, on the basis of last year’s survey feedback, for serving “expensive rubbish”.
