It is generally known that June is to see the opening of an offshoot of the American chain Sushisamba, in the City's new Heron Tower.
However, it's less well known that Sushisamba is to be followed a few weeks later by an even more elevated offshoot establishment. And the name of the 40th-floor outfit, which is presumably the highest restaurant to open in the UK – and possibly the whole of Europe – this year?
Yes, it’s Duck and Waffle.
Duck and Waffle is, as readers will know, a dish, and one that’s a signature item at Sugarcane, which is a Miami sibling restaurant to Sushisamba. Just above Sushisamba, the 39th floor of the Heron Tower will play host to a cocktail bar.
Hope that will be clear to the local market. We thought it sounded like a gastropub: shall we go down to the Duck & Waffle?
But on the 40th floor? Wonder how that will go down.
