Mark Hix, for many years a leading light of the Caprice group, is to launch his own restaurant, the Oyster & Chop House, on the Smithfield site formerly occupied by Rudland & Stubbs. The 60-seater will open in April.
Hix told catersearch.com that the establishment would offer “a large list of British oysters”, would “be working with unusual cuts of meat such as veal T-bones, bacon chops, Porterhouse, fillet steak-on-the-bone and venison cutlets.”
The same source also reports that Hix is to consult on the relaunch of Browns Hotel Grill W1, under a new name, next month, with the aim of returning the restaurant to “what it was always meant to be, a traditional British grill”.
