Breaking news reaches us that the Drapers Arms – a well-known and well-like gastropub in Islington – closed last Friday, after the receivers were called in. We are further informed that they do not intend to seek to sell the business as a going concern.
The Drapers was quite a hit in its day, including with Harden’s reporters, and was Evening Standard pub of the year in 2003. We are not aware of any other Harden’s listings which have fallen into receivership in recent times. Let’s hope it’s not a sign of the times.
We have sought independently to verify the fact associated with the reported receivership, but telephone calls to the pub this morning were not answered.
