Perhaps London really is becoming the centre of the world. Next month will see the much-anticipated opening of top chefs from Paris and Lyons, at the Connaught and in South Kensington. And now news reaches us that two German chefs – each with three Michelin stars – are also gearing up to open operations here.
The more certain of the ventures is scheduled for September. (Sorry, it’s a German operation, it WILL open in September.) It is at the soon-to-be-relaunched St James’s Hotel, just off the eponymous street, and the chef involved is Dieter Muller. Although Muller is not, it seems, to have his name over the door, he is to be closely involved, and not one but two Muller protégés – Christian Rosse and Philipp Vogel – have already been chosen to be joint head chefs.
Less advanced in his search is Joachim Wissler of Vendome, but we’re told by a man who follows these three-Michelin-star people – Andy Hayler – that he’s seriously on the hunt.
