Recently revealed details of works under way at Mayfair’s Four Seasons Hotel make clear that the 18-month ‘refurbishment’ – begun last September – is more in the nature of a total rebuild.
The building has been stripped back to its structure, and is being entirely reconfigured to “extract greater value for the landlocked island site”.
Dining at the Four Seasons – once quite a feature – has never been of any real note in in recent years, but we’d guess that’s set to change. No details as yet of the chef to be entrusted with the new establishment, of course, but we do know that the restaurant will be located at the north-west end of the building and will have a glass-walled extension overlooking the hotel’s private garden.
