MAY RELAUNCH FOR QUO VADIS

>> Read our first-week review <<

Soho’s long-established (Leoni’s) Quo Vadis site will be relaunched in the spring by brothers Sam and Eddie Hart as a ‘grill room’.

‘Grill room’ is not a term you hear that often nowadays, and Sam Hart emphasises that it is not a synonym for ‘steakhouse’. The word is being used to evoke the style of a grand-hotel grill room, as it was the only term he and his brother could think of to describe a thoroughly English-style brasserie de luxe. (But not, he emphasises, too luxe: the target spend is around £50/head.)

Only the ground floor of the listed premises – where Karl Marx once lived – will become a restaurant, and the two upper floors are to be a private members’ club.

No date for the re-opening yet, but they’re gunning for early-May.
