No Prague spring for Ramsay

It was never really clear how complete Gordon Ramsay’s disengagement from his Maze restaurant in Prague, announced last month, was to be.

The original presentation, however, was definitely of a “change of business relationship”, not a termination. It was said that Gordon Ramsay Holdings would continue to provide consultancy on menu planning. The restaurant still appears on the Gordon Ramsay website as if nothing had happened.

Not for much longer, it would seem. A representative of Maze’s parent hotel is today quoted in the Prague Monitor not only as confirming unequivocally that Gordon Ramsay “has left Prague”, but also for the first time as indicating that, in less than a month, the hotel will “present a new project and a new chef”.

It’s not, of course, absolutely impossible that Ramsay could continue to provide consultancy to a new project and chef, but it is quite difficult to see much attraction in such a relationship for either party.

Efforts to obtain clarification from Gordon Ramsay Holdings were unsuccessful.
