Usually, when we say “do you want to be a restaurant critic”, it’s an invitation to be one of the thousands of people in our annual Harden’s survey – currently under way; roll up, roll up!
Well, now we can bring to your attention an even better, one-of-a-kind restaurant critic job – after five years in the post, the NY Times’s Frank Bruni is moving on, and the Times is looking for a successor. Do you want to have a $100,000+ expense account, and a uniquely influential role in the dining culture of the city which claims to be the world’s capital? And don’t they like English writers over there? Sounds a tough one, doesn’t it?
One small word of warning, though: history suggests the job will go to a Times staffer.
