Where to the papers get things from? We were flattered to be quoted in an article in the most recent Sunday Times magazine on the Midas of the restaurant world, Richard Caring.
This article, however, stated as a fact that Gordon Ramsay had at one point “threatened to sue” Harden’s. How glamorous that would have been!
The dull reality, however, is that – with the 20th edition of our London guide now impending – neither Gordon Ramsay nor anyone else has ever seriously threatened to sue Harden’s. And, whatever else they may have said, no representative of the Ramsay empire has ever even hinted at any such threat.
This is probably wise. As 'our' more contentious opinions are almost invariably backed by an objective analysis of the views of thousands of other people, it’s difficult to see what Ramsay, say, could ever realistically have hoped to gain by suing us for expressing them.
