“A good, old pub like it should be!” – this “old-fashioned Victorian hostelry near the cathedral” has a “unique ambience” and it’s “always busy with a great mix of locals and visitors”. “Delicious food” and “sometimes amateur service” complete the picture.
In a “lovely location next to cathedral and college”, this “old-style” institution has a charming, most “civilised” ambience (and “the candlelit Jameson room is hard to beat”). Some long-term fans say that nowadays the food is “slightly down in standard perhaps”, but on most accounts it’s nevertheless “enjoyable and fair value”.
The “time warp” charm of this “unique” and hugely popular institution near the cathedral cannot be doubted; on the food front, though, opinions range from “excellent” to “not what it was”.
“How all pubs should be”; in the heart of the city, this ancient and “unique” venture has “an atmosphere of very comfortable prosperity” (especially in the “candlelit Jameson room”); many fans report that, after a patchy period, the food is “on the up”.
