Score a table “looking out on Wells Cathedral in the evening sunlight”, and this pub can be a “perfect” spot. Even a reporter who thought the cooking “unexciting”, says it’s “of good quality”.
Up-and-down reports of late on this potentially “lovely” pub, which has a “wonderful” location, by the Cathedral; it’s still tipped for its “dependable” cooking, but even fans can find the ambience a bit “canteen-like”.
Ian Bates’s “great old-fashioned pub” impresses all reporters, thanks to its “delicious” modern British grub, and its “wonderful selection of real ales” too; an attractive space, it features “a view of the cathedral from the back of the room”.
