“Family-run Italian” that helps add life to a dull stretch of the Gray’s Inn Road. It specialises in Sicilian cuisine presented by Fabrizio Zafarana, an engagingly “well-informed and enthusiastic” host.

“Great food in a cosy, homely setting” – this Sicilian specialist on a stretch of the unlovely Gray’s Inn Road “is a useful and reliable local restaurant in an area with limited options”. Owner Fabrizio Zafarana “makes a real effort to get to know all his customers and will happily amend a dish to suit personal taste”.

“Excellent” Sicilian cooking and a “terrific atmosphere”, orchestrated by charismatic host Fabrizio Zafarana – who is “simply meraviglioso!” – are to be found in this 10-year-old venture at an “awkward location on the unlovely Grays Inn Road”. It also has an impressive list of Sicilian wines.

“Glory be! A real neighbourhood spot in, of all places, Gray’s Inn Road, with proper cooking by proud Sicilians”. “It’s my favourite family restaurant”“Fabrizio (Zafarana) is a great host and the food is superb” and “cooked with love”. Top Tip – “try the sea urchin ravioli when they have it”.

For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

Owner's description

Luce e Limoni is the symbolic return of owner Fabrizio Zafarana to his home, Sicily. It is the materialisation of a concept woven with beauty, local Sicilian cuisine and good taste. In a way, it is the repossession of Fabrizio’s roots.

“ The menu embraces our native approach to food — take the best ingredients, allow that quality to shine through and present them with as little fuss as possible.”

Our food is the story of a long trip which changes over time but with one common point: the tradition. In Sicily, trade brought hundreds of years of foreign influence, which we try to bring in our restaurant by offering revisited traditional dishes giving fresh sensations to our customers.
