"In the village of Binsey out past Oxford railway station, this pub/restaurant has just been renovated under new ownership. As well as a roomy interior, there is a pleasant garden for outside dining at the back and through it there is a short walk to the river. A varied menu, there was a problem with the wrong order being cooked for one of our party but it would have been just a teething issue. Definitely need a car to get to it as the approach is down a lane which looks inaccessible."

"Very good wiener schnitzel (and a smaller portion is available), although it was a little bit dry, and the potato salad a bit too mustard flavoured on our second visit within the year. Outstanding lamb goulash and grilled salmon. Everybody gets a very warm greeting on arrival but some are obviously regulars and seem to get a more animated service experience."

"Looking out over Broadstairs beach, large airy space, family friendly, grown-up food not faultless (didn't think gherkins went well in a salad with very good 'crispy' (i.e. deep-fried) monkfish on top), good local beer list, short wine list."

"We followed one of their regular tastings of out-of-the-way wines with a very good dinner: top quality seasonal gear done nicely, service first rate, not easy in this busy 'Nappy Valley' sister to Terroir. Wines especially good and interesting."

"A tremendous addition to the Wimbledon food scene! It's not too long ago that Five Guys opened but this place trumps it by a mile. The burgers are definitely of a higher quality and the price is comparable if not slightly cheaper. The concept is a little quirky but it works and I can definitely see this local enterprise going places in a fairly short space of time. The drinks menu is also exciting and all in all I think this is an absolute winner. Staff are lovely, the addition of kitchen roll to each table is spot on and generally it's a nice place to eat lunch. Keep up the good work, I'm sure there'll be more than 2 of these around London in the near future."

"It's not bad but it's way over priced. The sad demise of the far cheaper and, arguably better, chippie on Berwick Street has left this as Soho's only real chip shop option. To me Fish and Chips is a simple concept and I don't really 'get' the idea of trying to take it up market. All that results is something that is over-priced and no better than a traditional and cheaper alternative. I may well go back as there are few other options but the Golden Union could do a lot more to impress customers such as myself"

"Went for a Saturday evening meal after a film at nearby Electric Shoreditch... but what should have been a fun evening was disappointing. The venue is nice enough, a large bar with an eating area cordonned off, although the noise level from the rammed bar area made conversation impossible if you were on the bar side of the restaurant. Foodwise, a burger was fine; the steak however was grim - tough, overcooked and with a peculiar taste. The waiter remarked that it was untouched but after offering an alternative (by now it's 11pm, we don't want to start reordering mains) there was no apology, suggestion of refund etc. Almost as if he wasn't surprised. Never previously had a bad Soho House experience but will be more careful in future. Won't be going back."

"Can do better - the location is good - we arrived by walking on the millennium footbridge from Tate Modern. The view is nice, although not as spectacular as the one from the south bank and so is the ambience. Overall the food was quite good, but choice was somewhat limited and you need to select (smallish) side dishes to balance and complete the experience. The service was well paced and fairly friendly, which is reflected automatically in the bill! However, the side dish of chips was on the firm and dry side and the expected discount through the Taste Card have not fully materialised, so bring your solicitor with you, to work out the T & C..."

picture of TwizooTwizoo’s Techies Explain…

You’ve probably noticed on Twitter on the left hand side of your ‘Home’ page there’s a ‘Trends’ list. Twizoo has built the same thing, but solely for London restaurants. Our number crunching detects the rate of change of influential mentions on Twitter. For example, ‘Christmas’ is currently trending on Twitter, which means there’s been a spike of mentioning Christmas now compared with the rest of the year.

Applying this to Twizoo’s algorithms: if X restaurant usually gets on average 10 tweets per week, but this week it gets 32 tweets… that’s a pretty big change, so it’s a good indicator something notable is going on. The algorithm notes restaurants that have the highest rate of change and ranks them based on which places’ tweets are the most positive collectively and then it takes the top of those based on how influential the individuals are who tweeted. Simple see?
