Harden's says
A new Japanese robatayaki grill restaurant set over two floors (with a basement bar, Zoku, in the works), inspired by the 'new age' izakayas and street food of Tokyo. The site was previously Ichibuns (RIP).
Harden's survey result
Summary
Clubby, three-floor ‘Japanese Super Diner’ in Chinatown that opened in 2018, with regular DJs on the dim-lit, basement level, and boatloads of retro-Japanese pop-memorabilia throughout. Alongside cocktails it provides burgers, udon and sushi – recommended strongly by some reporters, but “neither here nor there” to others.
For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
