“Some of the best dim sum in London” and “outstanding, delicious Peking duck” is an unexpected find in this anonymous modern hotel dining room overlooking trafficky Shepherd’s Bush Green. It’s “good enough to impress visitors from the Far East” and has built a sufficiently strong reputation in its 10 years to be extremely busy at times.

“One of the best Chinese restaurants in London” is where you might least expect it – in a modern hotel overlooking one side of Shepherd’s Bush Green. Better still, it occupies a “smart, spacious room, so has a calm atmosphere with reasonable noise levels”. The menu comprises “great-quality Cantonese plus other regions”, including “consistently superior dim sum – all well and freshly cooked, with some unusual items alongside old favourites”.

“The freshly made dumplings are almost perfect” at this smart, modern hotel restaurant overlooking gentrifying Shepherd’s Bush Green. Since opening in 2014, it has been the unlikely venue for “some of the best dim sum in London”. “This standard of Chinese food is hard to find here – it’s where I take friends from Singapore when they visit – and they’re impressed.”

“Excellent upmarket Chinese food” and “great dim sum” may seem out of place on grungy Shepherd’s Bush Green, but this joint “can claim to be one of London’s top Oriental restaurants – it’s where I take my Singaporean friends when they visit”. The venue – a plush modern hotel, part of a Hong Kong-owned group – makes for a rather “cold ambience” by some standards, but there are no complaints about the scran.

For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
