An “unassuming-looking” age-old trattoria near Waterloo station capable of some “quality, traditional Italian” cooking; even fans advise care when ordering however – “order a pasta and a glass of decent vino and you can escape with a modest bill”, otherwise it can be “ridiculously expensive”.
“In the gastronomic desert of Waterloo”, it’s worth knowing of this “definitely old-style, but popular” Italian “time-warp”; its prices are a little “through the roof”, but “you end up getting drawn back” by its “tasty” cooking and “excellent” service.
This “old-style” Italian veteran, by Waterloo, is certainly “good for business and the Old Vic”; more generally, it divides opinions – to critics it’s simply “outdated”, but fans argue it’s “reliable if pricey”.
“The last of the old-school Italians”? – this “friendly and cosy” Waterloo veteran has more claim than most, and it retains “a huge regular clientele” with its “well-executed” (if “expensive”) menu.
La Barca Restaurant Diner Reviews
"Excellent duck papardelle, tasty creamy sauce, my friends asparagus risotto was also good. Panna cotta was a bit tasteless. Nice aglianico at a reasonable price to wash it all down. Coffee good."
