Set over two spacious floors in the grand Victorian former HQ of Lloyds Bank, this “classy Spanish restaurant is a great place to eat and drink” – with food and atmosphere that are more than a match for most of its City rivals.

This “smart City restaurant”, close to the Bank of England, serves “excellent Spanish food backed by attentive but discreet service” and “an educative wine list”, in “great surroundings” set over two floors. “The emphasis seems to be on meat, and they also do the tapas classics to near-perfection – I love their take on a Russian salad and also the garlic prawns”.

“In the City but without off-the-chart prices” – this spacious fixture occupies a comfortable, somewhat rustically themed two-floor site, by the Bank of England, and serves “good quality Spanish food”. “Good for a business meal”, but also relatively “fun”.

For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

"Impressive tapas in a fine setting (pan con tomate great with anchovies and croquetas excellent). Rather glacial and not very attentive service, but probably some charmless customers among the City clientele "

"Quite limited range of dishes by tapas standards and what we had was dull with very little evidence of the kitchen taking pride in its work. There are far better tapas places in London."
