2010 Review: With its “great entertainment” and bed-filled bar, this East End venue is tipped by its small fanclub as “a great place for a fab night out”, with food that’s “surprisingly good” by the standards of such places.

  • Metro Marina O'Loughlin (29th November 2007)
    3/5 stars

Only a week ago, Ms O’M took a whole page to tell us that she wasn’t rushing to be first with the news any more. So now we have her review of Brickhouse, a whole two weeks after it was reviewed in the first-with-the-news Evening Standard. Does that really make much difference? Anyway, she “love[s] the [place’s] dinner-as-entertainment ethos”, but “reckon[s] it would work a whole lot better if the dinner in question was less elaborate”.
  • Evening Standard Fay Maschler (13th November 2007)

According to Mrs M, “some ideas triumph, some fall a bit flat”, at this Brick Lane newcomer. For what’s largely an entertainment venue, the main surprise is the the comments (and grading) are so essentially upbeat.
