“If you are on the same wavelength as the eccentric owner, John Jenkinson”, this “really fun” Cotswold-fringe hotel can offer an “uplifting and quirky” experience; true, its eclectic food can seem “ill thought out”, but most reports focus on the “highly idiosyncratic wine list” – nothing French or German here!

A visit to this well known hotel dining room turns out to be “endlessly bewildering”, not least because the host thrice refers to him as “you bloody fool”. It does however boast “one of the best wine lists” he had ever seen.
