“Serious foodies head here!”; “Chris Wicks’s original restaurant” – in “a wonderfully-converted former shop” in “edgy” Montpelier – “continues to delight”; its “delicious” and original cuisine is produced “with love and care”.

This “charming” Bristol restaurant “strike[s] just the right note” for the critic, and – despite the occasional “medicinal” taste, – his reaction to the menu is generally very positive.

A top recommendation to Jay Rayner from the locals, this “cheery, ramshackle spot… appears to have been converted from a Victorian grocer's shop”. Chris Wicks’s food, however, has a touch of the Fat Ducks about it. It doesn’t invariably satisfy, but it is always interesting. Pricing is “considered”, and service “knowledgeable and charming”. “In short, Bells Diner was everything so many places in Bristol haven't been recently: a nice place for lunch.”
