“Outstanding fresh pasta and sauces” are behind the enormous success of this Redland legend, which “looks very unassuming from outside” but is “always booked up ages ahead”. There’s “always something interesting and different” on the menu, which can change twice a day, and it’s “always so fresh and appetising”. Cousins Ben Harvey & Dominic Borel launched Pasta Loco in 2016, and have followed it up with a handful of other ventures in their group Bianchis.

“A Bristol institution”“popular because the pasta is second to none”, but “what puts it in another league is the combination of ingredients” and the “amazing team” behind it: cousins Ben Harvey & Dominic Borel, now major players on the local scene responsible for Pasta Ripiena, La Sorella, Bianchis and (as of Spring 2021) NY-style diner Pizza Bianchi, which has taken over the former Rocotillos site (RIP) on Clifton Triangle, and offers Neapolitan pizzas and boozy milkshakes.

This “magical” pasta specialist has in three short years launched cousins Ben Harvey & Dominic Borel as key Bristol restaurateurs. “Authentic-sounding but unusual and delicious pasta sauces” contribute to the “wonderful gastronomic experience” at this “laid-back and intimate” venue. See also Pasta Ripiena, La Sorella and Bianchi’s (named after their Italian grandfather Aldo Bianchi).

For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
