“Dreamily good” food from chef/co-owner Andy Link’s eco-conscious menu inspires enthusiastic reports on this “historic” half-timbered pub, dating from 1600, perched beside the River Lugg, “with good walks nearby”. “Every course is memorable, imaginative and perfectly executed” – while Sunday lunch “sets a new bar”. The business became carbon-neutral last year, and adds a voluntary donation of £1.50 to each diner’s bill to offset the footprint of their meal. Top Menu Tip – “rye and truffle bread with nettle butter” and “gorse fudge”.

For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
