The Geffrye Museum is set in historic and beautiful 18th century buildings, surrounded by delightful gardens, just a mile from the City. The museum explores the history of the home over the past 400 years, focusing on the living rooms of the urban middle classes in England. A sequence of period rooms show how such homes have been used and furnished from 1600 to the present day, reflecting changes in society and patterns of behaviour as well as style, fashion and taste. These displays are complemented by an award-winning herb garden and a series of period gardens showing the changing style of town gardens over the centuries. The museum and gardens provide a dramatic and atmospheric backdrop for evening cocktail parties, receptions and launches. A panelled lecture room and two purpose-built meeting rooms are available for hire during museum hours for training sessions, meetings and lectures.
